Reba McEntire is marking a meaningful milestone for her family, sharing a heartfelt message as her son Shelby Blackstock celebrates his 36th birthday.
The country music icon posted a tribute on Instagram dedicated to her son, pairing her message with a series of nostalgic photos from his early years.
The images captured different stages of Blackstock’s childhood, including a portrait from his toddler years, a tender moment of McEntire holding him as a newborn wrapped in a towel, and a later snapshot of the pair attending a NASCAR event together.
“Seems like yesterday when our journey started together,” McEntire wrote in her caption, adding, “Happy Birthday, Shelby! Love you with all my heart.”
A Look Back at Family and Career
McEntire shares Shelby Blackstock with her former husband, Narvel Blackstock. Their son was born one year after the couple married in 1989. McEntire and Narvel remained together for 26 years before their divorce in 2015.
Shelby Blackstock built a career in professional racing, achieving recognition as a NASCAR driver and earning the title of GT World Challenge America Overall Champion.
Family Bonds Beyond Blood
In addition to her son, McEntire has spoken about her close relationship with Narvel Blackstock’s other children, noting that she considers them part of her own family. Among them was Brandon Blackstock, who died in August 2025 after battling cancer.
Shelby Blackstock now lives in Nashville and married Marissa Branch in 2022. The couple’s engagement took place two years earlier at Walt Disney World’s Epcot.
