President Donald Trump found a creative way to celebrate First Lady Melania Trumpโs 55th birthday amid a busy day in Rome
The couple embarked on a significant journey Friday, flying to Rome to attend the funeral of Pope Francis.
Rather than staying behind to enjoy the famous trattorias of the Italian capital, the Trumps made the decision to return promptly to the United States. It marked their first international trip since Trumpโs return to the White House for his second term.
Speaking with reporters aboard the presidential aircraft, Trump, 78, openly admitted that his wife’s birthday plans might not sound conventional to everyone โ but emphasized that it was a special way for them to spend time together amid a hectic schedule.
“Sheโs got a working birthday,” the President explained, acknowledging the fast pace of the past few months.
As Trump gears up to mark the 100th day of his second term โ a period filled with major negotiations on tariffs, Ukraine, Iran, and Gaza โ he said there simply hadn’t been much free time for shopping.
“I haven’t had time to buy presents, it’s been pretty busy,” Trump said with a smile.
When asked if there would be any special birthday celebration, Trump answered cheerfully, “I’m taking her for dinner on the Boeing — I’m taking her for dinner on Air Force One.”
In a playful moment with the press, he even joked about sending Melania into the “lionโs den” to field questions herself.
Earlier that day, Donald and Melania were spotted boarding Air Force One together at an airbase just outside Washington, D.C. The First Lady looked elegant in a long tan trench coat and stylish sunglasses, effortlessly turning heads with her signature poise.
Since President Trumpโs return to office, the couple has managed to balance their busy lives while supporting each other publicly. Melania has remained primarily in New York, where their 19-year-old son Barron is attending university.
Nevertheless, they continue to make joint appearances for special events, such as the Easter Egg Roll they hosted earlier this week at the White House.
