President Donald Trump wished First Lady Melania Trump on their 20th marriage anniversary with a heartfelt throwback picture.
On January 22, 2025, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump marked 20 years of marriage. The President shared a heartfelt message on social media platform X, posting a throwback picture from their wedding day.
Accompanying the photo, Trump wrote, “Happy 20th Anniversary to Melania!” The milestone comes after decades in the public eye, particularly during Trump’s presidency and political campaigns.
Donald Trump has been a prominent figure in the media even before his time in the White House, thanks to his successful career as a businessman and the popularity of his reality TV show, The Apprentice.
A Look Back at Donald and Melania Trump’s Relationship
Melania Knauss, originally from Slovenia, first met Donald Trump at a New York Fashion Week party in September 1998. At the time, Trump was separated from his second wife, Marla Maples, and was with another woman at the event.
Reflecting on that moment during a 2016 interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Melania shared, “He wanted my number, but he was with a date, so of course, I didn’t give it to him.” A few days later, Melania decided to call Trump, and their connection blossomed.
After finalizing his divorce from Maples, Trump began dating Melania. In 2004, Trump proposed to Melania during the Met Gala, taking her by surprise. Melania later described the moment as “a great surprise” in an interview with the New York Post.
The couple tied the knot on January 22, 2005, in an extravagant wedding ceremony in Palm Springs, Florida. The reception was held at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, which remains one of their most well-known properties.
In March 2006, the couple welcomed their son, Barron, who has been their only child together. During Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, Melania played an active role, appearing alongside him at various events. However, after Trump’s victory, Melania and Barron delayed their move to the White House, opting to stay in New York City until Barron completed his school year in June 2017.
