The Rossoneri coach after the victory against PSG: “We’ve taken an important step forward, but the group will be decided only in the last match.”
Stefano Pioli enjoyed the victory against PSG, which keeps his Milan in the race for qualification to the Champions League round of 16. “This is the Milan that I want to see. We completely missed our game on Saturday, but tonight we were different.” the coach explained after the match.
“These games tell a lot. We suffered, they had more possession, but we had the opportunities to score more goals. We’ve taken an important step forward in the Champions League, but the group will be decided only in the last match.”
Regarding Leao’s performance, Pioli said, “This should be his standard. He can be a champion, but it depends only on him. He had an exceptional game, like everyone, not just in terms of quality but also in terms of determination.”
“What we needed to do, we did. We played with the right spirit,” Pioli added in an interview with Sky Sport. “We made an exceptional effort to come back against a strong team. Congratulations to the players. It was an important match for the group, and nothing is decided yet. Now we’ll play at home against Dortmund.”
Regarding the differences between the Champions League and the domestic league, Pioli stated, “It’s not a different Milan. We didn’t struggle against Juventus and Napoli; we only paid a high price for some mistakes. Tonight, we put in a lot of effort, but we must quickly refocus on the league now.”
