Only one year left in his contract, fans uneasy; many ‘European giants’ want Simone Inzaghi

The coach, also on the radar of Liverpool and Barcelona, โ€‹โ€‹has a contract worth 5.5 million: the English clubs ready to offer 8 per season. Marotta must secure him to avoid losing him.

“The ‘Inzaghi job’ has also captivated the Premier League. First, there was the Champions League final played on equal terms with Manchester City (complete with compliments from Pep Guardiola, not a bad business card); then this league campaign where Inter, besides showcasing European-level football, racked up 21 wins out of 25 matches played. Moreover, Simone Inzaghi has demonstrated his ability to improve the players he coaches, which, for clubs increasingly attentive to their finances and treating players as assets, is a highly sought-after quality. These compelling reasons have convinced at least two Premier League giants, Manchester United and Chelsea, to inquire about the Inter coach.

Another year on his contract

At the end of the season, Inzaghi will have only one year left on his contract with the Nerazzurri (he renewed until 2025 in September) and – another not exactly minor detail – he earns a salary of โ‚ฌ5.5 million plus bonuses, easily vulnerable to offers from those latitudes, with rumors suggesting proposals for the Inter coach could reach โ‚ฌ8-9 million. But there’s more, as Inzaghi has also entered the pool of potential candidates for Liverpool and Barcelona. The coach is liked because he has a fresh, new image (in this case, Inter is seen as a stepping stone) and for his managerial skills.”

Where does the future for Inzaghi stand?

These words can be seen as a starting point towards a future where Inter will also have to think about building on the foundations laid (a year ago, 12 players were sold after Istanbul…) because the bar – with the new Champions League and the Club World Cup – will be set even higher. And then there’s the contractual issue: it’s unlikely that Inzaghi will settle for a renewal that is not at least until 2027 at figures that acknowledge his new status. And it’s equally difficult to imagine that Steven Zhang won’t order to continue with a coach who has brought in mountains of euros for the club. Otherwise, well, of course Inzaghi won’t remain unemployed…
