The internet is buzzing with claims that Taylor Swift’s cat, Olivia Benson, may actually have a higher net worth than her partner, NFL star Travis Kelce.
According to Cats.com and several viral net worth calculators, Olivia is estimated to be worth around 97 million USD. That figure would put her well ahead of Kelce, whose estimated net worth is about 40 million USD.
Olivia Benson, named after the iconic character from Law and Order: SVU, is no ordinary house cat. She has appeared in television commercials and starred in music videos for some of Swift’s biggest hits, including “Blank Space” and “Me.”
Her media presence has reportedly contributed to her high valuation. Meanwhile, Swift’s other two cats, Meredith Grey and Benjamin Button, do not have any publicly reported earnings, though it is assumed they enjoy the same luxurious lifestyle.
Despite Olivia’s impressive estimated value, she is not the wealthiest pet in the world. That title reportedly belongs to Gunther VI, a German shepherd who is said to be worth approximately 500 million USD.
Nala Cat, a social media sensation with over 4.5 million Instagram followers, also ranks above Olivia. Another famously wealthy feline, Choupette, the beloved pet of the late fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, allegedly earned over 3 million USD in a single year.
Are these online net worth calculators truly reliable?
Financial expert Travis Brown, who serves as both a securities agent and an investment advisor for a firm managing 59 billion USD in assets, offered some insight in an interview with the BBC. Brown explained that calculating net worth should be straightforward using the basic formula of assets minus liabilities.
However, he pointed out that for celebrities and especially their pets, accurate financial details are typically kept private.
Gunther VI is the subject of a Netflix documentary exploring his wealth. And animal actors like Olivia Benson do receive pay for their work. According to the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, animal actors earn a standard rate of 500 USD per day.
While the actual wealth of Olivia Benson and Swift’s other pets may never be confirmed, the fascination with celebrity animals shows no signs of slowing down.
