Inter, Juve, Milan, and Roma have pursued the line presented last week in the meeting with the FIGC in the capital, but their request did not go through. And the right to an understanding remains untouched.
The FIGC’s attempt to retake Serie A’s right to new path has been rejected. The top Italian league must remain at 20 teams and not decrease to 18. These are the two main points from the meeting at Lega’s headquarters on Via Rosellini. After the vote held on the fourth floor, 16 clubs voted to keep Serie A at 20 teams, while 4 (Inter, Juventus, Milan, and Roma) pushed for reduction to 18.
PRESS RELEASE
Following the meeting, Lega Serie A issued a statement: “Today, during the Assembly held at Via Rosellini, Lega Serie A approved its own reform proposals for Italian football. At the same meeting, it was emphasized the crucial need to maintain the right of understanding in the federation’s statute, as in major European football systems. Additionally, it was confirmed that Serie A will remain with its current format of 20 teams.”
