The defender is expected to be out for a very long time, perhaps until the Supercoppa. Inzaghi has to continue with Darmian and Bisseck.
Dislocation of the left knee. This is the outcome of the diagnostic tests that Benjamin Pavard underwent on Monday morning, following his injury on Saturday afternoon during the match against Atalanta.
Inzaghi, who appeared concerned after the match in Bergamo, was right: the former Bayern central defender will need to wear a functional brace for 3/4 weeks before beginning rehabilitation work. In essence, he will be sidelined for at least 2 months, making his return in the new year. Probably for the match against Monza scheduled for mid-January.
This is clearly a significant absence, but it can be compensated by the reliability of Matteo Darmian, who has always been ready to contribute, whether acting as a wing-back, or playing as a right central defender, just as he did last season when, from January onwards, he admirably replaced Skriniar.
During this period, Inzaghi will also have the opportunity to test Bisseck: the giant from Germany has been underutilized so far, but everyone within the ‘Nerazzurri‘ has been impressed by his dedication and steady growth in training.
In short, Inter staff is convinced that, while Pavard’s absence is undeniably significant, there are resources within the squad to compensate for it.
