Mourinho after the win: “We were horrible in the first half, better in the second. Lukaku is feeling good”

The analysis of the Giallorossi coach after the victory the against Sheriff: “The first half was poor; we scored miraculously without deserving it. Lukaku is feeling good right now.”

Despite being suspended for the match, Josรฉ Mourinho spoke to the Sky Sports after the victory against Sheriff:

“We were horrible in the first half, individually and collectively: we lacked aggressiveness, we were too slow, and had no control over the game. We scored a miraculous goal to go ahead without deserving it. However, in the second half, I liked how we controled the game, I liked the goal that we scored, and I like the fact that we could have scored more. In the end, we deserved the victory.”

Renato Sanches had to request a substitution after less than half an hour, due to another muscular problem. Mourinho commented lke this:

Renato Sanches and Aouar need to play, they need rhythm and intensity. Unfortunately, Renato is like this, prone to injuries, a great player that we find hard to understand. Bayern Munich couldn’t figure him out, and neither could PSG. In the last game, he played for 45 minutes and seemed fine. Today, he was super ready, but during the match, he felt something and had to stop. Aouar, on the other hand, had what I call ‘the rhythm of fear’ after an injury (clearly pointing on Aouar’s fear to repeat an injury).”

Finally, on Bove and Lukaku: “Does Bove deserve to be a starter? They are all starters; He’s a reliable player; two years ago, he was a kid going out on loan, and today he has great potential that makes us wonder if he should be a starter or not. Lukaku, on the other hand with his physical structure, needs to play continuously, to have agility, fine coordination, and that only comes with playing competetive matches. Playing is good for him.”
