The Giallorossi coach after the draw with Torino: “I’m sad about the result but not about the performance. We played a good game on a very bad field.”
There is great disappointment in the Roma camp following the 1-1 draw away at Torino. At the end of the match, Josรฉ Mourinho didn’t hide a touch of anger about the result but still praised his team for their performance, saying:
“In the end, it’s two points dropped because we conceded a goal from a set piece,” the Portuguese manager stated. “I’m sad about the result, but not about the performance, because we played a good game on a field that, by comparison, makes Rome’s Olimpico look like a catwalk.”
Interviewed by Dazn, Mourinho continues, “We put a lot of sacrifice and effort today, with players like Paredes, who couldn’t play more than fifteen minutes just a week ago, and with a new defensive line. I liked my team; it was tough to do better against this Torino, although our goal is always to improve.”
However, the result doesn’t fully satisfy Roma‘s coach. “I am going at home with the feeling that we dropped 2 points,” he reiterates, “Considering the nature of this match and the fact that the opponent prepared for this game for a week, I’m not leaving disappointed with my players, only with the result.
When asked about Roma sitting at the lower part of the table (currently 13th with 5 points) Mou said: “The current standings aren’t accurate, in December-January, we will be higher for sure.”
Mourinho then analyzes the choice to field a more offensive team than usual, saying, “I like all the forwards we have. Azmoun didn’t play because he’s not in good shape. Pellegrini trained only yesterday. If we’re all in good shape, we are going to be better.”
