The Councilor for Public Works and Mobility of San Donato (where the new Milan stadium will be build) shows optimism and says that AC Milan will start playing there in 5/6 seasons.
AC Milan is swiftly moving towards its new home in San Donato, in the San Francesco area, where the Rossoneri club aims to permanently relocate starting from the beginning of the 2028-2029 season.
Regarding the club’s new stadium project and the controversies, especially concerning traffic, parking, and public order, the Councilor for Public Works and Mobility of San Donato, Massimiliano Mistretta, spoke:
‘It is likely that in 2028/29 season, the kick-off whistle for Milan’s season will be in San Donato – his words reported by Calcio e Finanza – We believe that the strength of the project and the scale of the investment will ensure effective responses to all of the concerns. If this does not happen, it is clear that the kick-off for the 2028/29 season will not be in San Donato, but we are definitely on the right path.’
‘On September 27, the Rossoneri club submitted the proposal for the building of the new stadium; now, the technical offices are conducting a regulatory assessment to understand if and when to start the procedural process. “I would say we are still in a preliminary phase. Once this step is overcome, we will enter a more political evaluation phase regarding the project and its implications.”
Then, he detailed the ‘concerns’ surrounding the project, starting with traffic: “It is the aspect related to Milan’s stadium project in the municipality of San Donato that worries citizens the most. The challenge will be to ensure as much as possible that San Donato is not invaded by cars. The parking spaces planned by the project are currently over 5 thousand. But there are other parking lots at the outskirts of San Donato, and other areas that can contribute to providing a solution.”
