“It’s an important result, but the performance was crucial; we continued with the same mentality as in the first two matches. We faced some difficulties after Tomori’s red card, nevertheless we defended with character and personality.
I liked how we began, especially in the first half where we created four goal-scoring opportunities. We played against a tough opponent, but this a great beginning to our season after having a very tough early schedule.”
Regarding Leao’s performance, Pioli mentioned, “Leao is constantly improving, and I hope he can score more goals this season.
Milan recently signed Luka Jovic, who will serve as Giroud’s backup. “Jovic was on our list. He’s coming off a tough season, but he’s motivated, talented, and full of quality. We have many matches he will provide us with a lot of assistance.”
Looking ahead to the derby against Inter after the break, Pioli stated, “It’s going to be a big test for us, we’ll see if we pass it after the break. There’s a clear rivalry and ambition between both teams. They want to win the second star and we want to win the second star as well.”
