At the Gentleman Award, the Portuguese forward sets his sights on Inter.
Rafael Leão received the Gentleman Award for the best goal of the season (22/23) (3-0 goal against Napoli at the Maradona stadium), but he has already booked a place for the next year’s award nominations with a bicycle kick goal against Roma two weeks ago.
The Portuguese is in great form and now has Inter in his sights. After the disappointment of the Champions League derbies in May, the ex Lille forward is now nurturing thoughts of revenge, to be exact, with the number 10 on his back:
“it’s a number that great Milan players have worn before. Milan has always had strong number 10s: it was the right moment to take the number, step onto the field, and show everyone what I can do wearing that number.”
And the best opportunity arrives on Saturday, in the derby. Leao continued: “It’s always a great match, both teams are pumped up to play. It’s a great moment, we are ready to win the match.”
Is it better to win with a goal scored or an assist provided? “I’m not a selfish player,” Leao concluded. “I try to make the right play when I go one-on-one. Sometimes I can shoot, but I always check if a teammate is in a good position so i can pass.”
