The Rossoneri coach, after the defeat at San Siro against Udinese: “In other matches, the points were missing, but we alway performed. Tonight, there was nothing.”
Stefano Pioli described his disappointment after the home defeat to Udinese: “We didn’t play the game we wanted,” said the Milan coach to Sky. “As the match progressed, we lost clarity and quality. In other matches we lost some points, but we always performed. Tonight we didn’t.”
“We’re concerned about the result and the performance. It didn’t go as we planned. It was an underwhelming performance, we need to turn things around immediately. We have to do better. The fans’ boos are justified, especially those directed at me.“
Without a doubt, Jovic was among the worst on the field, and he still appears to be a mystery: “It’s not only his fault, we should have opened them up a bit more and then played the two forwards inside, but we didn’t always manage to do that. It was his first start, and I don’t think we lost or played poorly because of him.”
The entire attacking department is under scrutiny: “I am sure we have important players in the attacking department. Today, I made a different choice due to the absences of Pulisic and Chukwueze, but our gameplay can allow us to be more dangerous than we were tonight, even though we had two or three chances to take the lead.”
The next game is the Champions League match against PSG: “After such a disappointment, it’s better to prepare for a game like this. We have to face a great team, but we have only one result in mind (a win). It will require a great performance in every aspect.”
Finally, Pioli reiterated that he is fully comfortable at Milan and wants to continue working: “In football everything depends on the results. Until a few days ago, nobody was talking about problems within the club. I don’t have much else to say about the rest. I have everything I need to work well, and if the results aren’t coming, it means I need to work more.“
