Melania Trump shares a special message for Americans on Good Friday – Her words

As Holy Week draws to a close, First Lady Melania Trump took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a Good Friday message with Americans, offering words of faith and gratitude while also expressing her enthusiasm for an upcoming Easter tradition at the White House.

โ€œMay this Good Friday inspire hope and faith for all Americans and our friends around the world,โ€ she wrote in her post, striking a reflective tone for the solemn Christian holiday.

In the same message, Melania Trump offered heartfelt appreciation to the East Wing staff for their behind-the-scenes efforts in organizing this yearโ€™s White House Easter Egg Roll, set to take place on Monday, April 21.

โ€œAs families across the nation gather to celebrate Easter, I extend my gratitude to the dedicated East Wing Staff for their tireless effort in preparing the upcoming White House Easter Egg Roll,โ€ she added.

A 147-Year-Old Tradition of Joy and Celebration

The White House Easter Egg Roll, which began during President Rutherford B. Hayesโ€™ administration in 1878, will celebrate its 147th anniversary this year. According to the White House’s official website, the event has evolved into a beloved celebration featuring storytelling, games, music, and of course, the iconic egg rolling races.

Before Hayes formally moved the event to the White House South Lawn, children would gather for egg rolling on the grounds of the U.S. Capitol. However, concerns over damaged landscaping led Congress to ban the practice there, ultimately prompting the relocation that started the now long-standing White House tradition.

โ€œThis cherished tradition, rooted in history since 1878, brings joy, storytelling and laughter to Americaโ€™s children,โ€ the First Lady wrote.

Melania Trump also shared her anticipation for the event:

โ€œI look forward to watching all of the smiles light up this memorable day, on Monday.โ€

Planning and Participation

Traditionally, First Ladies are responsible for shaping the Easter Egg Roll’s theme and activities. Each year, they bring their own flair to the festivities. From creating themed decor to introducing new entertainment or hands-on events, the role of the First Lady is central to the experience.

In past years, the South Lawn has been transformed into a festive springtime playground, sometimes featuring dance zones, craft areas, and even special appearances by popular childrenโ€™s characters.

Admission to the event is free, but spots are limited and granted through an online lottery, which closed this year on March 10.

As part of the tradition, participating children receive souvenir wooden Easter eggsโ€”a collectible keepsake designed for the occasion.

Looking Ahead to Mondayโ€™s Celebration

Mondayโ€™s event marks yet another milestone in a celebration that has withstood wars, recessions, and changes in presidential administrations. For Melania Trump, the occasion is both a symbol of national unity and a chance to create joyful memories for children and families.

With preparations now complete, all eyes turn to the South Lawn of the White House for a vibrant and memorable Easter Monday celebration that promises smiles, tradition, and plenty of rolling eggs.
