Melania Trump reads to children as President Trump hosts joyful Easter Egg Roll at the White House

The South Lawn of the White House came alive with springtime cheer on Monday as President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump hosted the annual Easter Egg Roll, welcoming thousands of families to a festive celebration.

Ditching the usual pastel-themed attire associated with Easter, Melania turned heads in a refined cream-colored trench coat featuring elegant paneling along the shoulders and back.

Her sophisticated look was a stylish yet understated nod to the season.

Melaniaโ€™s Storytime Moment Steals the Show

In one of the eventโ€™s most heartwarming moments, the former First Lady gathered with a group of children to read Bunny With a Big Heart, a childrenโ€™s book about a mischievous bunny who becomes kinder after a twist of fate forces him to slow down and reflect.

Before reading, Melania smiled and greeted the young audience: โ€œWhat a beautiful crowd.โ€ The children cheerfully replied with a chorus of โ€œHappy Easter!โ€

โ€œI have a book here that I really like, and at the end, youโ€™ll tell me what you learned from it,โ€ she said as she began reading.

After finishing the story, Melania asked the children what message they took from it. Many enthusiastically answered โ€œkindnessโ€ and โ€œfriendship,โ€ capturing the bookโ€™s central lesson.

A video clip of the moment, shared by the X (formerly Twitter) account Flotus Report, quickly garnered positive reactions, with fans praising Melaniaโ€™s gentle engagement with the children.

President Donald Trump also addressed the crowd, offering a warm welcome and sharing that more than 42,000 attendees were expected throughout the day.

โ€œIt was a beautiful day yesterday, and itโ€™s a beautiful day today. We donโ€™t have to worry about sunburn, but it looks like itโ€™s not going to rainโ€”it’s going to be something special,โ€ he said.

Trump also took a moment to honor the late Pope Francis, who passed away the night before at the age of 88.

โ€œHe was a good man, worked hard, he loved the world,โ€ Trump noted, adding that he had signed an executive order to lower flags to half-staff in the Popeโ€™s memory.

He ended his speech by thanking Melania for planning the event. โ€œShe worked very, very hard,โ€ he said.
