Meghan Markle : “At One Point, I Didn’t Want to Be Alive Anymore. If My Story Can Help Someone…”

Meghan Markle is celebrating her 43rd birthday today, and an interview wit today on CBS Sunday Morning, the Duchess of Sussex, in the company of her husband Prince Harry, spoke about a very difficult period in her life.

A journalist asked Meghan Markle about her decision to speak out about her tough days. Meghan first talked about this in 2021 during an interview with Oprah Winfrey, where she revealed that at one point, she didn’t want to be alive anymore. She had been under immense media pressure in the UK and emphasized that Harry’s family did not support her as they should have.

Meghan, who previously spoke about the “abuse she experienced on social media and online,” told the journalist that she recognized a “connection” between her experience and the harmful situations children face online, according to People.

“When you go through any level of pain or trauma, I believe part of our healing is being really open about it, at least in my case. I never want anyone else to feel that way, and I never want anyone to think about doing the same.”

She added, “If speaking about it can save someone or encourage them to genuinely check in on their own well-being, it’s worth it. I’ll make that sacrifice.”

Meghan also spoke about wanting to protect her children, Lilibet and Archie, from harmful online content.

“Our children are three and five years old. They’re amazing. But as a parent, all I want to do is protect them. As we can see in the online space, there’s a lot that needs fixing, and we’re lucky to be part of that change,” she emphasized.

“If you know how to help. Right now, we’ve reached a point where almost every parent needs to be the first responder. Even the best first responders in the world couldn’t recognize the signs of potential suicide. That’s the scary part,” said Harry.

Meghan noted that everything should be viewed with the question – what if that were my daughter, what if that were my son? “If you look at it through the lens of a parent, there’s no way to see it any other way but to try to find a solution.”
