Elon Musk is heading into 2025 with a lighter frame, thanks to Mounjaroโa medication originally designed for type 2 diabetes thatโs now gaining attention for weight loss.
Musk shared his journey on X, where he humorously referred to himself as “Ozempic Santa” in a post featuring him dressed as Father Christmas. “Like Cocaine Bear, but Santa and Ozempic,” he joked before clarifying, “Technically, Mounjaro, but that doesnโt have the same ring to it.”
While Musk initially tried Ozempic, he found it wasnโt the right fit for him. “High doses of Ozempic made me fa*t & burp like Barney from The Simpsons,” the 53-year-old entrepreneur revealed. “Mounjaro seems to have fewer side effects and be more effective.” Musk, who also leads Tesla and owns X, is just one of many turning to this new generation of weight loss medications.
Others in Hollywood have also praised Mounjaro for its results. Whoopi Goldberg credited the drug with helping her lose a significant amount of weight. “Iโm doing that wonderful shot that works for folks who need some help, and itโs been really good for me,” she shared during an interview with Kelly Clarkson. Clarkson also mentioned using a similar treatment for her own weight loss journey, saying itโs been a helpful tool.
Dr. Terry Dubrow, known from Botched, has also experimented with Mounjaro to better understand its effects. “I thought it was amazing,” the 66-year-old surgeon shared. While he didnโt have much weight to loseโonly 10 to 15 poundsโhe wanted to experience its benefits firsthand as many of his patients were using it. “Itโs super effective,” he said. “Itโs curing a lot of diseases, not the least of which is obesity.”
