The Tuscan coach after the defeat against Juve: ‘We absolutely did not deserve to lose. Kvaratskhelia is strong.’
Walter Mazzarri spoke after the defeat against Juventus, the third in a row between the league and the Champions League: “Anyone who knows football understands that there are moments like these; it’s difficult to provide an explanation after such a match,” he explained to Dazn.
“The guys played a great game tonight, we dominated on the field, and pressed Juventus in the second half. Our only mistake was to allow conceding that goal. I believe that playing like this could lead to a series of results that would set things right. We absolutely did not deserve to lose.”
“I’ve only arrived recently, it’s useless to talk about what happened before me: if everything was going well, they wouldn’t have called me; there were clearly some problems. Mazzarri added. “Kvara’s opportunity in the first half was remarkable; if we couldn’t score there, then what can I say: that explains it all.”
Mazzarri has sweet words for Kvara, who was truly subdued tonight. “The boy is strong; let’s not forget that on the left, we didn’t have full-backs to handle the opponents. Kvara is a great player and he can get only better from here.”
Napoli lacks aggressiveness both in attack and defense. “Today, the team was well set up, only allowing a couple of counterattacks to Juventus. We have several absences, and we’re paying for them a bit. If we do well against Braga and advance, then we can focus on the league, and I’m sure we can do well.”
Mazzarri then commented on Osimhen who needs a recovery to restart his season. “Champions are influential for all teams. He needs to find his best form; he’s always under pressure. He can make a difference, but soon he has to leave for the Africa Cup, and we’ll try to cope without him.”
