Giuseppe Marotta, Inter’s CEO, was a guest at the Festival dello Sport. His words.
LUKAKU – “For someone like me who has seen everything until now, there’s nothing to be scared of. It’s in the past now. When you have a trustful relationship, it can turn into mistrust or disappointment. It’s part of the sport, a sport where money rules. Lukaku is part of the past; I’m looking towards the future, which is the most important thing.
Did the benching in Istanbul weigh on his decision? I don’t think so. Accepting Inter’s offer doesn’t depend on a single incident but on a relationship of great respect and gratitude from our side. I don’t see what could create controversy; it’s a sterile issue that we don’t want to dwell on.”
ICARDI – “Him or Lukaku? Given how things have gone, I’d say Icardi.”
LUKAKU’S CRITICISM – “I heard about the story of the 50,000 whistles… Let’s try to live the present well, concentrate on our strengths. This can create distractions at a time when supporting the team is the most important thing. However, the fan pays and has the right to criticize whoever they want.”
ONANA – Could he return to Inter? “I can’t foresee the future, but in football, anything is possible. However, sometimes returning players have performed well, and sometimes not so much. It was certainly an important experience for him and for us, not to mention the financial aspect of the deal.”
