The statement from Inter’s CEO: “Serie A title? We’ll give it a shot. January transfer market? We will see. Betting is the fault of executives, institutions, clubs, agents, and unions as well.”
LAUTARO
Was Messi on Inter’s mind? Of course. There was a moment when… but that was before my time. Who is my Messi? Right now, it’s Lautaro,” said Beppe Marotta, Inter’s CEO, during the presentation of Fabrizio Biasin‘s book ‘I Hate Football‘.
When asked if Martinez is the strongest player he ever had, the Inter executive responded, “Defining the category of the strongest is difficult. Lautaro, is a young talent who has become a champion. Week after week, he is improving. Can we be at ease regarding Lautaro’s renewal? Yes, absolutely.“
SCUDETTO & THE TRANSFER MARKET
Regarding the question of whether Inter must win the Serie A title, Marotta replied, “We’ll give it a shot. This question was asked when we were in Trento. It’s clear that the second star is something significant and historical, and it’s something that remains with you.”
As for the January transfer market, Marotta said, “I don’t know; it depends on how many things will go. Today, it’s early to talk, but certainly, our monitoring activities continue with Piero Ausilio and our scouting team. The list is always there.”
BETTING SCANDAL
Regarding the betting issue, Marotta also few words: “Today, there are tools that can be used for both entertainment and making wrong decisions. The temptations were much lower in the past, but today, the mobile phone is the source of everything: satisfaction, danger, adrenaline.”
“The blame also falls on executives, football institutions, clubs, agents, and unions. We all do too little to prevent these temptations for young players. We should have an entrance test. In any company, there’s an interview to hire, but we don’t do that in football. Only when you sign a player do you realize some negative aspects or potential problems. Furthermore, a player is a financial asset. Imagine the economic damage to the club if a player were suspended for years, even when they aren’t largely responsible.”
FUTURE
As for the future, the Inter CEO doesn’t see himself with another club: “Inter will definitely be the last team in my career. I think about a future in politics, not with a party membership card, perhaps in the world of sports.
