The CEO was a guest on DAZN’s program “Super Tele” and talked about the moment of the Nerazzurri team.
In an interview with DAZN, Beppe Marotta‘s spoke about Inter’s current situation, the lead over Juve, Zielinski and many other topics. The CEO spoke during the Super Tele program, hosted by Pierluigi Pardo. Here are his words:
“I am attributed merits. Inter’s strength is the team, aside from Inzaghi, who is the leader. There are figures like Baccin, Ausilio, and Zanetti, and our luck is this winning team. That’s something very important.
Let’s start with the January transfer market: Inter has planned it all ahead. Taremi and Zielinski are hot names?
“It is important to represent a club that has returned to being the one of the Treble. Players want to play for us. I can confirm that I talked to De Laurentiis; and I have informed him about our negotiations with Zielinski. Ausilio is handling this, and if it goes through, we will sign him (Should be a formality at this point).”
Thuram, did you expect him to perform this way?
“He has always shown to be a talent. He had an injury, but Ausilio and Baccin’s strength was not to give up on him. We managed to get him for free. It’s an important operation and a great talent. A very good guy, a footballer’s son, and it’s important to have a father of that caliber. His first counselor and expert: a good thing.”
How do free agents come about?
“From the work of the technical area, done by the directors and scouts who monitor free agents and go to try to contact and negotiate. It is easier for us to negotiate when you represent Inter. Now it is much easier to convince players compared to when they arrived. We won six titles, made two finals in Europe, Inter is always Inter, it has a history. You are in Milan, and Milan represents an attraction for players and their wives.”
Lautaro’s renewal?
“We have no anxieties; we have no players who are free agents. We want to consolidate relationships with those who show attachment to the shirt, like Lautaro. There have been rumors about Barella; we analyze position by position, we have guarantees with contracts for everyone. And there are professionals who appreciate the brand represented by Inter.”
Conte’s return to Italy?
“At the moment, he is a resource for Italian football that would be useful to many teams. The hope is that he can return to Italy: it depends a lot on him. But I spend some words on Inzaghi: considering the age gap with Allegri and Conte, he is a growing as a coach. He deserves a great merit for these years, for the satisfaction of the fans, it has been his.”
How much did Pavard cost?
“He was not a free agent. He is a world champion, a French international, a very important player. Yesterday, I heard Stramaccioni and Barzagli on the comparison with Bremer, whom we dealt with last year. Different characteristics but both good: Pavard is a complete player, in both phases.”
Inter fans hope you stay at Inter as long as possible: Is Inter your last club experience?
“Do you want to talk about retirement (laughs)? I have recently extended the contract, and we have all extended it, my entire management. My contract expires in 2027, and I will be 70 years old. Being in love with football and sport, I want to create a new life, and I would like to be involved politically in football.”
