The Belgian has agreed to a half-million cut, helping the Giallorossi (AS Roma) meet the financial fair play requirements.
Hours of intense discussions, the entire Giallorossi leadership with the Chelsea’s management, an exhausting marathon of talks, but in the end, it produced a positive outcome. This is because in the final round of negotiations, Romelu Lukaku even further accommodated Roma’s needs.
His net salary has now decreased from the previously agreed €7.5 million to €7 million. As a result, the Giallorossi’s gross expenditure now stands at 9.1 million, as opposed to the initial 10 million.
This act of goodwill benefits Roma not only as a form of savings but also helpes the Friedkin family to meet the financial fair play regulations.
Lukaku’s contract with the Blues was worth initially €10.8 million. During his time at Inter, Big Rom had reduced his salary to 8.5 million. Now, his latest concession is in support of the Giallorossi’s cause and finding a new home, which just a few days ago seemed quite uncertain.
