Lucky fan that joins the stage with country star Zach Bryan goes viral on social media

During a recent live performance by country music sensation Zach Bryan, one lucky fan had the opportunity of a lifetime when the artist invited him on stage to sing.

The concert, held at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on Monday, attracted a massive crowd of country music enthusiasts.

Lucas Mason, a 17-year-old from St. Catharines, Ontario, shared his excitement with a digital news outlet, saying, “Before the show, I was really hoping to join him on stage.” Mason had prepared a sign that read, “Darien Lake 2022, Lake Gardens 2023, can I play Heading South with you at Scotiabank 2024?” This message hinted at Mason’s previous attendance at Zach Bryan’s concerts and his desire to perform on stage with the singer this time. Unfortunately, security confiscated Mason’s sign at the venue entrance, making his dream seem unlikely.

Undeterred, Mason improvised by purchasing a Bryan t-shirt at the event and writing a new message, “Can I play Heading South??” on it. “I ruined the shirt, but it was totally worth it,” Mason remarked. “I was determined to make it happen.”

In the pit area, Mason built connections with fellow concert attendees in the hopes of catching Bryan’s attention. “I talked to everyone in the pit and asked for their help by pointing their flashlights at me,” Mason explained.

A video shared on TikTok by the account @greatamericanbarscene captured the moment when Zach Bryan invited Mason on stage, quickly going viral with over 10 million views.

Recalling the experience, Mason mentioned, “Before he started singing, he noticed everyone shouting and pointing.” Bryan then tested Mason’s knowledge of the song “Heading South,” a hit that played a significant role in Bryan’s country music career.

Even the journey home was filled with excitement as Mason’s fellow passengers chanted, “Play your guitar,” prompting him to perform “Something in the Orange” and “Revival” once more.

Mason, who began learning guitar five years ago and recently started vocal lessons, regularly performs at small venues with around 50 attendees. He’s also working towards releasing his own single or EP in the coming weeks.
