Lecce second with 11 points, D’Aversa: “Now bring on Juventus, we’ll give them everything.”

The coach of the Salentini analyzed his team’s golden moment after the victory against Gilardino’s Genoa.

Lecce continues to amaze. In Friday night’s game, the Salentini secured a 1-0 victory over Genoa, temporarily claiming the second position in the standings behind Inter. The match was decided by Oudin with a magical long-range strike that earned three points for D’Aversa‘s team.

After the match, the Giallorossi coach said, “It was a very delicate match; Genoa was in good form after drawing with Napoli. I asked the boys to go all out for the result, and we were patient both when we were level and in numerical superiority.”

“I think the result is well-deserved. We are working hard to achieve the maximum, we are now occupying a position that objectively doesn’t belong to us. We are working with enthusiasm, but we mustn’t let it turn into overconfidence because that would lead to mistakes.”

D’Aversa continued, “Our position in the standings is deserved; we work day by day. The award for the best coach in August? It’s already in the past, it’s an award to be shared with the players and the club. We think about the present and the Tuesday match against Juventus.”

“There is certainly even more enthusiasm within the groyp now; we will face a very strong team like Juve, and we must give them everything we have and do it with enthusiasm, being aware that certain qualities must be part of our DNA.”
