In the past LeBron faced criticism for delaying these decision, today maybe he’s an old man
Contrary to popular belief that LeBron James would play a central role in the Los Angeles Lakers’ search for a new head coach, new information has come to light. But LeBron will not interfere with the front office in the search for the new coach
Now everyone is saying the same thing, if LeBron is not really insisting on a new coach, and if he is not really interested in what’s happening then he is not interested in winning anymore. He is interested in a good life and he has that in L.A. Everybody is saying ‘he is an old man now’ (basketball wise of course) AND HE CAN NO LONGER COMPETE
Insiders suggest that the situation behind the scenes is more complex than many fans and analysts anticipated. James’ agent, Rich Paul, emphasized that their podcast collaboration does not mean James is endorsing Redick as the Lakers’ head coach.
As James considers his future beyond the 2024-25 season, the Lakers are looking for a coach who can provide long-term leadership. This scenario might increase Anthony Davis’ influence in the decision-making process, given his contract extends for two more seasons with an option for 2027-28.
Lakers’ new ‘Head Coach’ favorites for the job
The top contenders for the Lakers’ head coach position are reportedly James Borrego and Sam Cassell. Borrego, currently an assistant with the New Orleans Hornets, has prior head coaching experience with the Charlotte Hornets. Cassell, despite lacking head coaching experience, has an extensive NBA career and is currently part of the Boston Celtics’ coaching staff.
Although many assumed LeBron James would have significant influence in this decision, past coaching choices and trade moves indicate he may not have as much power within the Lakers’ front office as previously believed and he is not as strong and fierce as he once was.
