Even at 40 years old, LeBron James is still putting up elite numbers, and now, heโs pulling back the curtain on how heโs doing it.
Fresh off his 20th All-NBA selection, this time to the Second Team, the Lakers star opened up on the Mind the Game podcast about his daily routine, his diet, and the widely circulated claim that he spends $1 million per year on body care.
Spoiler: he says thatโs completely false.
โI donโt know where that sh*t came from,โ LeBron said, laughing during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show. โI take care of my body, but I have no idea where that amount of money came from.โ
Inside LeBronโs Daily Diet
On the podcast with co-host Steve Nash, LeBron shared the real secret behind his physical longevity, and it starts with what he eats (or doesnโt) each morning.
โIn the morning I have a green juice or some fruit, but I donโt have a full meal until after training. My first real meal is usually around 1 or 2 in the afternoon.โ
Instead of protein shakes or powders, LeBron says he sticks to natural vitamins and real food. His go-to post-workout recovery?
โA fruit smoothie or soaked overnight oatsโฆ Iโve burned so many calories, I just need something real.โ
He also made it clear: no creatine, no artificial supplements.
Recovery Over Riches
While LeBron laughed off the million-dollar rumor, he didnโt downplay the work. His longevity is built on consistency, recovery, and discipline.
โI do a lot of soft tissue work, massages, hyperbaric chambers, ice bathsโฆ I do everything I can to keep playing at this level, man. I want to keep playing what I love.โ
And so far, it’s working: In his 22nd season, LeBron averaged 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, 8.2 assists, and led the Lakers into the playoffs while continuing to defy age and expectations.
By the Numbers: LeBron at 40
- 22nd NBA season
- 24.4 PPG, 7.8 RPG, 8.2 APG
- 21x All-Star, 20x All-NBA
- Still the face of the Lakers
Whether itโs early-morning green juice, skipping breakfast, or soaking oats overnight, LeBronโs routine is anything but random. And as the King gears up for yet another season, heโs proving that peak performance isnโt bought, itโs built.
