LeBron James delivered a dominant performance on Thursday night, putting up 42 points, 17 rebounds, and eight assists as the Los Angeles Lakers secured a hard-fought 120-112 victory over the Golden State Warriors.
The Lakers had built a commanding 26-point lead but faced a late push from the Warriors before ultimately closing out the win.
With this standout performance, James etched his name into the record books once again, becoming the oldest player in NBA history to score 40 or more points in a game.
At 40 years and 38 days old, he surpassed the previous record held by Michael Jordan, who achieved the feat at 40 years and four days.
The most interesting moment of the game came when during the second quarter when LeBron had his moment and went on an absolute tear hitting three three-pointers in 28-secondsโincluding this one from a step inside half-court on the Lakers’ logo.
That’s the kind of heat-check three that only a few guys in the world are allowed to take. Three of themโLeBron, Luka and Stephen Curryโwere in the building on Thursday. It just so happened that the King was the one taking them.
Just look at this Luka Doncic celebration
Up next for the Lakers and the Warriors
Both teams will play Saturday. The Warriors are visiting the Bulls in Chicago, while the Lakers will host Indiana.
With this win the Lakers are fifth in the West with an impressive 30-19 record, while the Warriors are going to need Jimmy Butler’s help as the team is on a good way to miss the playoffs with a 25-26 record sitting outside the play-in tournament.
