As the NBA season approaches its midway point, the Los Angeles Lakers seem to be finding their rhythm once again. However, uncertainty looms over the future of their iconic superstar, LeBron James.
James recently missed two games due to an “excused absence” and was sidelined once more during Saturday’s victory over the Sacramento Kings due to an illness.
Despite holding the fifth seed in the Western Conference with an 18-13 record, the Lakers are undeniably a different team without “The King” on the court. Head coach J.J. Redick is well aware of James’ irreplaceable impact on the team.
Redick Shares Update on LeBronโs Status
Following the Lakersโ 132-122 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Saturday, head coach J.J. Redick addressed concerns surrounding LeBron Jamesโ availability moving forward.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Redick offered some reassurance about the health of the Lakersโ star player and hinted at a potential return for James in time for the New Year’s Eve matchup against his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers.
โThereโs no concern, heโs just feeling a bit under the weather,โ Redick explained, putting to rest any immediate worries about Jamesโ condition.
As LeBron James celebrates his 40th birthday, he continues to shine in his 22nd NBA season, driving the Lakers toward a third straight playoff berth. Despite missing just three games this season, heโs averaging 23.5 points, 9 assists, and nearly 8 rebounds per game, with eight triple-doublesโmore than the past two seasons combined.
This year, James achieved a milestone by playing alongside his son, Bronny, fulfilling a lifelong NBA dream. Yet, signs of age are emerging, with his lowest field-goal percentage since 2019/20 and his lowest scoring average since his rookie year. Is LeBron pacing himself for one last title push, or is Father Time finally catching up?
And YES LeBron is expected to play in the match against Cleveland Cavaliers barring any unexpected updates.
