LeBron James and his son Bronny are facing a lawsuit over an alleged car accident that occurred more than two years ago. The legal action comes at a dramatic moment, just as the two made NBA history together.
Lawsuit Hits the James Family
The lawsuit, filed in October 2024 in Los Angeles County Superior Court, comes from two women — April Almanza Lopez and Kiara Rae McGillen — who claim a 2018 Dodge Charger tied to the James family collided with their vehicle on a highway in Littlerock, California. The incident reportedly happened on November 13, 2022.
They allege injuries including neck, back, and shoulder pain, as well as headaches.
Medical expenses have already been estimated at over $234,000 for Lopez and $48,000 for McGillen. They also say their car was damaged, devalued, and made undriveable. The lawsuit seeks compensation for medical bills, lost wages, and general damages.
LeBron & Bronny Fire Back
According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, LeBron and Bronny “deny each and every allegation” in the lawsuit. Their legal team argues that any loss or injury the plaintiffs suffered was due to their own actions or the result of unavoidable circumstances.
The James family is seeking dismissal of the case and claims they are not liable for any damages.
Adding to the mystery, the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station and California Highway Patrol reportedly have no official record of the crash on file.
Filed on the Eve of NBA History
The lawsuit was filed just hours before LeBron and Bronny made history on October 22, 2024, when they took the court together for the Los Angeles Lakers — the first father-son duo to do so in an NBA game.
Despite the off-court drama, LeBron called the moment unforgettable and said it was a milestone he would cherish forever.
The next court hearing in the case is scheduled for February 19, 2025.
