The Lazio coach after the defeat to Salernitana: “I am concerned about the mentality of a team that is struggling to find itself.”
Maurizio Sarri doesn’t hide his concerns after his Lazio’s heavy defeat against Salernitana: “It’s pointless to justify ourselves about the players we are missing or blaming refereeing errors because Gyomber deserved to be sent off. In the end, if we analyze the match, we did too little and this is the outcome – the words of the Lazio coach on Dazn. Compared to last year, we’ve lost some qualities. Everyone must take their own responsibilities, especially me. If the players don’t perform like last season, it’s my fault.“
Sarri then explained that he’s focusing on the Champions League (Celtic comes to the Olimpico on Tuesday) to try and restart: “We need to improve. If we enter the field, with this mentallity we won’t get far. I hope the Champions League is a different story. I am concerned about the mentality of a team that can’t find itself, but the Champions League can work miracles.”
Finally, a comment on Immobile‘s moment and Zaccagni‘s injury: “Ciro’s goal can please us because it gives him fuel to perform well, but if the team plays like this, as I said we won’t get too farโฆ We reached creating chances too rarely. Zaccagni? It’s not a muscular problem but an articulation issue at the hip; it will need to be evaluated.”
