The Inter captain speaking to UEFA: “The nickname ‘Toro’ comes from my time at Racing: I was always angry and fierce in duels.”
Inter firmly atop the league and awaiting the match against Atalanta, which could propel them to a +12 lead over Juventus. However, the Nerazzurri haven’t forgotten about the Champions League, as confirmed by Lautaro Martinez to UEFA:
“Every trophy is an objective for a club like Inter and so is the Champions League trophy.” The Inter captain then went to describ the atmosphere in the locker room: “We are a group of brothers and friends rowing in the same direction, whether one is playing or not.”
Lautaro also spoke about non-football topics, more personal ones: “When I arrived at Racing, my teammates nicknamed me ‘El Toro‘ because I was always angry and fierce in duels. The phrase tattooed on my arm (‘What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger’)? It tells the story of what I went through as a child and even afterwards; I identify with those words. I went through tough times, then I realized I had to follow my path, football.”
His mother wasn’t pleased with his first tattoo at 15: “She said I was too young. I started with the name of her father, my grandfather Nesto. My tattoos speak about me, my family, or what characterizes me.”
