In a bid to foster reconciliation between Prince Harry and Prince William, King Charles has reportedly given Harry the go-ahead for a potential meeting during his upcoming visit to London for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games. Palace insiders suggest that the King may act as a mediator to mend the strained relationship between the brothers.
While the exact date of Harry’s visit remains undisclosed, it is expected to coincide with commemorative events at St Paul’s Cathedral. Speculation is rife about whether Harry will travel alone, as he did during a brief trip in February, during which he chose not to meet with William and stayed at a luxury hotel rather than with family at royal residences.
The rift between the Waleses and the Sussexes has persisted for years, but recent reports hint at a willingness to reconcile. The Prince and Princess of Wales purportedly extended an invitation for the Sussexes to bring their children on their next UK visit, although there are conflicting reports about Meghan Markle declining this offer.
Archie and Lilibet last visited the UK during Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee in June 2022, while Markle returned for the Queen’s funeral service in September of the same year. However, Harry’s unsuccessful bid for taxpayer-funded security for his family complicates the prospect of a joint return, as they will now cover their security costs independently during UK visits.
