It’s official: Kevin Durant does not want to be traded from the Phoenix Suns. Following his statements, the organization should seek additional offensive support for the forward in the 2024-2025 NBA season.
For weeks, rumors linking him to other teams have intensified. Durant, one of the best scorers in NBA history, addressed these rumors.
“You can just make up lies, and everyone will believe you. You can just hit the ‘KD wants to leave’ button whenever you want some attention… It bothers me that people lie like that, and it bothers me that the public believes those lies,” Durant told Desert Wave Media.
Amid the wave of NBA moves, such as Paul George to the Philadelphia 76ers, there was a huge talk that Durant might pack his bags and join an organization in need of a proven scorer.
The forward remains one of the league’s top scorers, having averaged 27.1 points per game with a 41.3% three-point shooting percentage in the recently concluded regular season.
It won’t be easy for another organization to absorb a contract as large as Durant’s, considering it’s one of the highest in the league today.
In 2021, the forward signed a four-year extension through 2026, worth a total of $194.2 million. For the 2024-2025 season, he will earn $49.8 million, and in the 2025-2026 season, his salary will increase to $53.2 million.
