Keanu Reeves shares a ‘devastating’ update with his fans: “I can’t stop thinking about this”

Keanu Reeves is aging just like the rest of us, and he has shared his ‘devastating’ thoughts of mortality.

“I’m 59, so I’m thinking about death all the time,” Reeves shared with BBC News. “I’m young old.” Currently, Reeves is promoting his debut novel, “The Book of Elsewhere.”

This new book draws inspiration from the “BRZRKR” comic book series, a creation of Reeves, co-written with British science fiction author China Miéville. The story revolves around B, an immortal warrior who longs for death. This theme has intensified Reeves’ focus on mortality, which he strives to keep in perspective.

Hopefully it’s not crippling, but hopefully it’s sensitized [us] to an appreciation of the breath we have, and the relationships that we have the potential to have,” Reeves reflected.

Some fans might assume B is modeled after Reeves, given the character’s physical similarities, like long dark hair. However, Reeves emphasizes that his primary influence on B was his experience with action films. “I think it was influenced by some of the action films that I had done,” said Reeves, known for his roles in successful franchises such as “The Matrix” and “John Wick.”

This candid reflection on life and death adds a personal layer to his new work, making it a compelling read for fans and newcomers alike.
