Keanu Reeves is aging just like the rest of us, and he has shared his ‘devastating’ thoughts of mortality.
โIโm 59, so Iโm thinking about death all the time,โ Reeves shared with BBC News. โIโm young old.โ Currently, Reeves is promoting his debut novel, โThe Book of Elsewhere.โ
This new book draws inspiration from the โBRZRKRโ comic book series, a creation of Reeves, co-written with British science fiction author China Miรฉville. The story revolves around B, an immortal warrior who longs for death. This theme has intensified Reeves’ focus on mortality, which he strives to keep in perspective.
โHopefully itโs not crippling, but hopefully itโs sensitized [us] to an appreciation of the breath we have, and the relationships that we have the potential to have,โ Reeves reflected.
Some fans might assume B is modeled after Reeves, given the character’s physical similarities, like long dark hair. However, Reeves emphasizes that his primary influence on B was his experience with action films. โI think it was influenced by some of the action films that I had done,โ said Reeves, known for his roles in successful franchises such as โThe Matrixโ and โJohn Wick.โ
This candid reflection on life and death adds a personal layer to his new work, making it a compelling read for fans and newcomers alike.
