Justin Baldoni responds to Blake Lively’s sexual harassment legal complaint. What did he say?

Justin Baldoni has responded after It Ends With Us co-star, Blake Lively, filed legal action against him, claiming he sexually harassed her on set.

Justin Baldoni’s lawyer has addressed allegations made by Blake Lively, co-producer and co-star of the movie It Ends With Us. Baldoniโ€™s lawyer in a statement to the New York Times, said the actor did nothing โ€˜proactive nor retaliatedโ€™ against Lively, and accused the actress of โ€˜another desperate attempt to โ€œfixโ€ her negative reputation.โ€™

According to a legal complaint filed with the California Civil Rights Department on Dec. 21 and reviewed by The New York Times, Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and retaliation. She claimed he made inappropriate comments and engaged a crisis PR expert to orchestrate a smear campaign against her.

In response, Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, issued a statement calling Lively’s accusations “categorically false.” Freedman told The New York Times that the claims are “shameful” and accused Lively and her team of making “serious and baseless allegations” against Baldoni, Wayfarer Studios, and its representatives.

The complaint surfaced amid ongoing rumors of tension between Baldoni and Lively, who avoided joint promotional efforts for the movie during its press tour. Addressing these allegations, Freedman labeled them a “desperate attempt” to salvage Lively’s reputation, which he argued had been damaged by her own remarks and actions during the filmโ€™s promotional campaign.

Freedman added that Wayfarer Studios hired a crisis manager before the marketing phase of the movie, citing “multiple demands and threats” allegedly made by Lively during production. According to the attorney, these included threats to not appear on set or promote the film unless her demands were metโ€”actions Freedman claimed ultimately contributed to the movieโ€™s poor performance.

Blake Lively’s response to these comments

Lively, in her own statement to The New York Times, dismissed Freedmanโ€™s assertions and maintained that her legal action aims to expose “sinister retaliatory tactics” used against individuals who report misconduct. She also denied that she or her representatives spread negative information about Baldoni or Wayfarer Studios.
