Joy Behar returns to The View after a week-long absence. She immediately revealed the real reason that kept her away
Joy Behar made a much-anticipated return to The View after a week-long absence that had fans speculating about her status on the show.
The 82-year-old host finally addressed her time away, revealing that there was more to her absence than just her off-Broadway commitments.
During last Thursdayโs episode, Whoopi Goldberg reassured viewers, explaining Joyโs absence by saying, โJoy is not here. We wish her a happy opening night. Itโs tonight.โ
Behar had been busy with her new play, My First Ex-Husband, which not only stars her but was also written by her. The production features an impressive cast, including Tovah Feldshuh, Susie Essman, and Adrienne C. Moore.
However, upon her return, Behar immediately admitted: โI was sick!โ Although she didnโt specify what illness sheโd been battling.
Joy Behar revealed that her absence from The View coincided with the launch of her play at New Yorkโs Mac-Haydn Theater, hinting that it had an impact on her throughout the week.
Behar also confirmed that she will continue performing until February 23, at which point another actress will take over the role.
A familiar presence on The View since its debut in 1997, Joy briefly departed in 2013 but returned in 2015. Meanwhile, The View continues to grow, with The Weekend View now airing on ABC News Live. However, Whoopi Goldberg will not be part of the expansion, as she does not work on Fridays.
