Jon Bon Jovi, known for hits like “Livin’ on a Prayer,” is hopeful for a return to peak vocal performance following vocal cord surgery that sidelined his live singing in 2022.
The rock icon, whose full name is John Francis Bongiovi Jr., is currently on a path of recovery after undergoing throat surgery and subsequent rehabilitation for an atrophied vocal cord. However, he acknowledges that the challenges of performing live may now be greater for his voice.
In an interview with the Sunday Times, Bon Jovi discussed the differences between studio recording and live performances. Despite the hurdles, he remains dedicated to his vocal therapy regimen, singing daily in hopes of regaining his former vocal strength.
Jon Bon Jovi expressed his aspirations for live performances, emphasizing his desire to deliver energetic shows lasting two and a half hours, four nights a week. However, he also acknowledged the importance of maintaining a high standard of performance, stating, “I know how good I can be, so if I canโt be that guy โฆ put it this way, I donโt ever wanna be a fat Elvis.”
Elvis Presley, famously known as the “King of Rock โnโ Roll,” commanded both the stage and the silver screen during his illustrious career. However, his later years were marked by struggles with prescription drug dependency and declining health, exacerbated by the demands of his physically taxing schedule.
Tragically, Elvis passed away on August 16, 1977, at the age of 42. He was discovered unconscious at his Graceland mansion and subsequently pronounced dead at a hospital in Memphis. His untimely death left an enduring legacy and a profound impact on the world of music and entertainment.
“I can tell you that 60 is different from 50, and my current concern is that Iโm going to forget how to sing, but what does a quarterback do when faced with the last ball heโll ever throw?” Bon Jovi shared candidly.
“I want to look back on 40 years of Bon Jovi, look forward to the new album, and appreciate everything,” Bon Jovi expressed, emphasizing his hope to find joy and fulfillment in the journey ahead despite the challenges he faces.
