After 17 years of marriage, a man left his wife for a younger woman. The downtown luxury apartment was in his name, and he wanted to stay there with his new love. He asked his wife to move out and promised to buy her another place. She agreed but requested three days alone in the apartment to pack her things.
On the first day, she carefully packed her personal belongings into boxes, crates, and suitcases. On the second day, movers came to collect her things. On the third day, she sat down for one last meal at their candlelit dining table, with soft music playing in the background. She enjoyed a pound of shrimp and a bottle of Chardonnay.
When she finished, she went into each room and deposited a few shrimp and shrimp shells into the hollow of the curtain rods. She then cleaned up the kitchen and left.
The husband returned with his new girlfriend, and everything was blissful for the first few days. Then it started: a terrible smell began to permeate the apartment. The man was clueless and couldn’t explain why the place smelled so bad.
They tried everything: cleaning, mopping, airing the place out. They checked vents for dead rodents, steam cleaned the carpets, and hung air fresheners everywhere. They even brought in exterminators and replaced the carpets, but nothing worked.
Finally, they couldn’t take it anymore and decided to move. The moving company arrived and professionally packed everything for their new home. Including, of course, the curtain rods!
