JJ also announced the end of his podcasting days after being hired by the Los Angeles Lakers as he will be focusing on coaching a team that wants another championship ring
the Los Angeles Lakers announced JJ Redick as their new head coach, marking him as the 29th person to lead the team in its storied history. At the press conference, General Manager and Vice President of Basketball Operations Rob Pelinka introduced JJ. The new coach acknowledged the significant challenge and high expectations associated with his new role.
“I understand the expectations,” Redick stated. “Lakers fans are incredibly passionate, and they expect championships. That’s why I took this job. I want to coach the Lakers. I want to lead this team. I don’t want to dilute anything. I aim to become a great NBA coach and win championships. My goal is to help my players maximize their careers. That’s my main focus.”
JJ REDICK CARES ONLY ABOUT THE JOB AND NOT ABOUT WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK
JJ Redick immediately embraced the pressure of leading the Lakers to a title, addressing concerns about his inexperience head-on.
“It’s a valid question, and I’ve heard everything. It’s been a really interesting six weeks, just being part of the engagement farming industry,” Redick said. “I don’t have a great answer to your question because, honestly, I really don’t give a f**k. I want to coach the Lakers. I want to coach the team. I don’t want to dispel anything. I want to become a great coach in the NBA and win a championship.”
Redick, who enjoyed a 15-year playing career in the NBA, is currently assembling his coaching staff. He will now lead the Lakers and work closely with LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Redick has collaborated with James in recent months on a podcast, but he mentioned that his podcasting days are now over.
