Is this the end? Whoopi Goldberg set to be replaced as ABC executives push for change

Rumors are swirling that Whoopi Goldbergโ€™s time as moderator on The View may soon come to an end.

According to insiders, ABC executives are pushing for a leadership shakeup, with executive producers reportedly eyeing Sunny Hostin as Whoopi Goldberg’s potential successor.

The-Express has given the behind the scenes, with sources claim Hostin is already being groomed to take over Goldbergโ€™s role. A senior ABC insider told Rob Shuterโ€™s Substack, โ€œThe writingโ€™s on the wall.

The network knows The View needs a refresh โ€” someone younger, more engaged, and more connected to the next generation. Sunny checks every box.โ€

While there hasnโ€™t been an official announcement, subtle shifts in the show’s dynamic have become apparent. One recent example came during a conversation about sexless marriages. Goldberg abruptly cut it short, saying, โ€œItโ€™s early in the morning,โ€ which some insiders interpreted as a sign of disconnect with the show’s evolving tone and audience expectations.

Although Whoopi Goldberg has been a longtime fixture on The View, reports suggest that ABC is beginning to consider the showโ€™s future without her.

According to an inside source, โ€œLegends age out,โ€ noting that while the network holds a deep respect for Whoopi, plans are quietly being made for whatโ€™s next Executives are said to be subtly guiding viewers to โ€œwatch closelyโ€ as these gradual changes unfold in real time.

Adding to the speculation is Whoopiโ€™s noticeable absence from Friday episodes. She currently only appears from Monday through Thursday, leaving her out of the weekโ€™s final broadcast.
