The Nerazzurri coach ahead of the Torino match: “An excellent Inter will be needed. Lautaro has a tremendous sense of belonging here at Inter.”
After the 2-2 draw against Bologna, which concluded Inter’s mini-cycle of league matches before the break, Simone Inzaghi asks his team to return to winning ways against Torino. He says:
“An excellent Inter will be needed because after the break, the preparation for a game is always challenging, given that the players returned between Wednesday and Thursday. Not to forget that we will be facing an excellent team with a coach that is in his third year in charge.”
To achieve this, they need to improve defensively, especially in avoiding lapses in concentration. Inzaghi: “We are working a lot on the defensive organization, but we will have to do even more. We conceded two avoidable goals to Bologna, and we need to improve with the whole team ready to participate in the non-possession phases,” he states to Inter TV.
Following Giuseppe Marotta‘s remarks, Inzaghi also spoke about Lautaro Martinez: “He has a tremendous sense of belonging at Inter, and in these years, he has shown continuous growth. With the captain’s armband, he has taken on even more responsibilities. Furthermore, he is fortunate to have extraordinary teammates who always try to put him in the best conditions.”
Regarding the attack, Inter is scoring a lot this year with various players. Inzaghi comments, “This statistic confirms the strength of the group. Nevertheless, we can improve; we want more goals from everyone, even from defenders and midfielders.”
Returning to the match against Torino, Inzaghi identifies two areas of the field that could be decisive: “Both teams undoubtedly have excellent players on the flank, but they also have quality in midfield. It will be an intense match on the wings as well as in the center of the field.”
Finally, regarding the grueling schedule that awaits Inter between the league and the Champions League, Inzaghi says, “The players know that I will need everyone for this series of important and challenging matches. We must have high levels of concentration and a strong desire to perform.”
