Today, the Nerazzurri board of directors approved the financial statements for 2022/23: one year ago, the deficit was 140 million. The Champions League has provided a substantial financial help.
Reaching the final in Istanbul was worth almost as much as selling both Lukaku and Hakimi together. In the summer of 2021, these two brought in a total profit of €100.3 million. The latest European campaign has contributed €90 million from TV rights alone. The overall goes way beyond 100 million when ticket sales are included.
This year, Inter achieved revenues through the Champions League itself and thanks to their fans. Inter set a record with 80 million euros in total revenue from ticket sales in the league and cups, a figure never reached before.
Inter has improved its financial position and is in line with UEFA’s Financial Fair Play parameters; the settlement agreement has been honored. The management has effectively implemented UEFA’s directives.
Now Inter stands at €85 million total deficit, a significant reduction compared to the 2021-22 financial statement when the deficit was €140 million. It’s worth noting that the deficit number, -85 million, would have been -63 million if the €22 million from the Digitalbits agreement hadn’t fallen through.
There’s another significant number to highlight: €425 million in revenue. This figure is slightly lower than the 439 million euros from 12 months ago, but that number was positively influenced by the lucrative sales of Lukaku and Hakimi.
It’s important to emphasize how Inter is succeeding in maintaining competitiveness while reducing costs. For example, in the last three years, the club’s owned players have gone from 133 to 72. Additionally, the first-team wage bil has decreased by approximately 12% compared to the €132m from the previous season.
“This is what happens when you have someone like Giuseppe Marotta running the club. The CEO has executed so many deals, and it seems like he never makes any mistakes. He is the real reason why Inter has managed to achieve all these results.
