Inter, De Vrij says YES, it’s a “done deal”, the Dutch will sign a new contract

Stefan De Vrij has said yes and he will be staying with Inter until June 30, 2025 reports from Italy say.

The Dutch central defender has accepted the offer proposed by the club’s executives for a two-year contract extension at his current salary, which is around 4 million euros per season.

A meeting is expected soon to finalize the details and put pen to paper. This news follows the recent confirmation of Calhanoglu’s contract renewal, making it the second important confirmation for Inter while waiting for the outcome of the more complicated negotiations with Bastoni.

For Inter’s executives, this is an important move in their plans to build the defense for the upcoming season, having lost Skriniar on a free transfer and still working on the deal for Acerbi from Lazio, which will cost them 4 million euros, so securing De Vrij is a crucial step forward.

De Vrij could have signed with any club since his contract was due to expire on June 30, however, his attachment to the Nerazzurri jersey prevailed, and he is considered an important element in the Inter locker room, despite playing fewer games this season than in the past.

Now, the focus turns to Bastoni, who has a contract until June 2024. Negotiations are ongoing, and while there is still a significant gap between the player’s demands and the club’s offer, Inter is confident that Bastoni will follow the same path as Calhanoglu and De Vrij, pending signatures and formalities.
