If the ‘Giallorossi’ decide to sack Mourinho, Hansi Flick to take over AS Roma

The information about the coach who won the sextuple with Bayern Munich and was then fired by Germany National Team after the defeat against Japan

ROME – Hans-Dieter Flick would be the top choice of the Friedkin family to replace Josรฉ Mourinho on Roma’s bench in the event of a defeat against Cagliari says a report from ‘Corriere Dello Sport‘. It would be a mid-season change, something Roma has not experienced since the departure of Di Francesco in 2019 and the arrival of Claudio Ranieri as a caretaker until the end of the season.

This situation is causing turmoil among Roma fans and makes the match against Cagliari (coached by Ranieri, ironically) even more significant and crucial.

Hans-Dieter Flick is the top name on the Friedkin family’s list, and he is the only coach to have been dismissed from the helm of the German national team in its 123-year history. The defeat last September in a friendly match against Japan (4-1), proved to be the final straw.

In 25 matches with the National team, he only managed to secure 12 victories, while Die Mannschaft was eliminated in the group stage of the World Cup for the second consecutive time. Currently, Germany has not won a match since March 25th of last year and has lost its last three games against Poland, Colombia, and Japan.

Flick is now monitoring the situation at Roma, waiting for the opportunity to take a new coaching position after his successful stint with Bayern Munich, where he won everything that there was to be won.

He led Bayern to victory in the Bundesliga, the German Cup, and the Champions League, achieving the classical treble. At the start of the 2020-2021 season, the coach also won the European Super Cup and the German Super Cup, and in February, he secured the Club World Cup, completing the sextuple โ€“ a feat previously accomplished only by Guardiola with Barcelona in 2009.

He closed the season with another Bundesliga title and was awarded the UEFA Coach of the Year for the previous season. After Bayern he accepted the role of the German national team’s head coach, but without finding success.

The disappointment in the World Cup and his subsequent dismissal now fuel his desire to embark on a new adventure, with his phone always on. However, his arrival would not be easy, as the Roma fan base is fully behind Mourinho and strongly opposed to the departure of the Portuguese coach.
