The entertainment industry and a close-knit Alabama community are grieving the sudden loss of Hudson Joseph Meek, a 16-year-old actor recognized for his memorable role as Young Baby in the critically acclaimed movie Baby Driver.
Hudson tragically passed away on December 21, just two days after suffering serious injuries from a fall out of a moving vehicle in Vestavia Hills, Alabama, his hometown. According to a release from the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, Meek died surrounded by loved ones on December 22 at UAB Hospital, less than 48 hours after being thrown from a moving vehicle.
The incident occurred on the evening of December 19 and is currently under investigation by the Vestavia Hills Police Department, according to reports from local news station WVTM. His mother, Lani Wells Meek, shared the devastating news in an emotional Facebook post, writing:
โOur hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight. His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met.โ
A Talented Actor and So Much More
Hudson Meek began his acting career at a young age, landing impressive roles in notable productions. Alongside his appearance in Baby Driver, he acted in the Emmy-nominated series MacGyver and contributed his voice to commercials for Toys R Us, McDonaldโs, and the popular video game League of Legends.
However, Hudsonโs life wasnโt just about acting. He was a sophomore at Vestavia Hills High School, where he excelled in football, Honor Choir, and student government. His adventurous spirit stood outโby age 14, he had already earned certification as an advanced open water scuba diver, and he had managed to visit all 50 states, an incredible feat for someone so young.
