Horrible update from the Duchess of Sussex, who announced the death of her beagle on January 7.
Meghan Markle has shared a deeply emotional tribute to her beloved rescue beagle, Guy, who recently passed away.
The Duchess of Sussex broke the news to her followers on Instagram on Tuesday evening, expressing her heartbreak over the loss.
Accompanying her announcement was a heartfelt video compilation, showcasing cherished moments with Guy through a series of photos and clips. Many of these visuals are believed to have been captured by Meghan herself.
In her post, Meghan wrote: “In Memory of Guy. In 2015, I adopted a beagle from a dog rescue in Canada. He had been at a kill shelter in Kentucky and given a few days to live. I swooped him up….and fell in love.
“They referred to him as ‘the little guy’ because he was so small and frail, so I named him ‘Guy’. And he was the best guy any girl could have asked for.
The Dutchess reflected on the profound bond she shared with her beloved beagle, Guy
“If you followed me on Instagram back in the day, you saw so much of him—he was even part of The Tig. He was there for it all: while I was on Suits, when I got engaged (and then married), and when I became a mom. He was with me through everything—the quiet, the chaos, the calm, and the comfort,” she shared.
Meghan also recounted a harrowing chapter in Guy’s life, revealing, “He endured a terrible accident just before I moved to the UK, requiring multiple surgeries over several months. He was confined to the clinic, unable to leave. Doctors believed he’d never walk again, but Dr. Noel Fitzpatrick had hope.”
She added, “H and I would make late-night drives to visit him in Surrey while he recovered, month after month. His resilience amazed us.”
The Duchess expressed her deep gratitude to those who cared for Guy during his journey. “I will always be thankful to Noel and his team, the staff at Queen West Animal Hospital in Toronto, our current vets, and my friends and community. Thank you for loving him as much as I did.”
