He met the Queen twice. Loves fish and soccer: What does the oldest man in the world look like now?

Despite being over a century old, John Tinniswood remains active, social, and full of admiration for life, claiming he feels as youthful as 80 years old.

Born in 1912, the same year as the Titanic tragedy, Tinniswood has had the privilege of meeting the Queen twice during his lifetime. Now residing in a nursing home in Southport, UK, he attributes his longevity to his love for fish and chips.

“Fish and chips have always been my favorite dish. It’s been a real treat throughout my life. I’ve managed to maintain my youthfulness, feeling just the same now as I did at 80. Nothing much has changed,” Tinniswood revealed.

During World War II, Tinniswood served in the Royal Mail, where he met his beloved wife, Blodwen, at a dance in Liverpool. They shared 44 years of marriage until her passing in 1986, leaving behind their daughter Susan, who is now 81 years old.

Despite his age, Tinniswood boasts a sharp mind and a keen memory, which he attributes to his passion for lifelong learning and his love for football, particularly the Liverpool team. “Staying active is crucial. I’ve always had a passion for football, and in my younger days, I was part of the Liverpool Ramblers Association, camping across the country with fellow enthusiasts.

While the association may no longer exist and camping trips are a thing of the past, I continue to engage in activities here as I would if I were still living freely,” Tinniswood shared.

He also offered a piece of advice to keep one’s mind sharp: “Never go to bed without learning something new each day.”
