‘He doesn’t have to play basketball at all’LeBron James confesses to the Kelces about Bronny’s future

LeBron James spoke with Jason and Travis Kelce on their podcast

Bronny James, unlike his iconic father LeBron, didnโ€™t grow up surrounded by the same level of media frenzy during his early basketball years. While expectations have always been high due to his fatherโ€™s legendary status, Bronnyโ€™s path has unfolded with a quieter intensity.

Even without the whirlwind attention LeBron faced in high school, Bronny has remained a figure of intrigue. At 20 years old, heโ€™s carving out his own journey toward a professional basketball career, carrying the immense weight of comparisons and expectations every step of the way.

As LeBron was a guest with brothers Jason and Travis Kelce the Kansas City Chiefs standout Travis Kelce recently praised Bronny James for the remarkable way he has navigated the challenges of being LeBron Jamesโ€™ son.

“He’s handled the hype and the scrutiny and everything so perfect,” Kelce commented, highlighting Bronnyโ€™s maturity in the face of immense public attention.

LeBron himself has acknowledged the unique pressures his son facesโ€”pressures he didnโ€™t encounter during his own youth. Comparing their journeys, the NBA legend reflected on the stark differences.

“I didnโ€™t have to deal with my father being this f***ing guy on the pedestal. I didnโ€™t have to deal with that. Bronny has to deal with all of that,” LeBron explained.

Despite the expectations, LeBron emphasized that basketball is not a necessity for Bronny, given their financial security. “Bronny doesnโ€™t have to play basketball at all. Itโ€™s not like he needs the money,” he stated, underlining that his sonโ€™s path is his own to choose.

Lebron on Bronny’s future

Bronny James has managed to stay grounded and focused on his path, despite the immense media attention and the weight of family expectations. According to LeBron James, his son embodies a laid-back yet determined personality that keeps him balanced.

“If you ever meet Bronny, youโ€™ll realize Iโ€™m such an idiot to look down on him,” LeBron shared during the “New Heights” podcast. “Heโ€™s the most chill, easy, fun kid in the world. He goes to work, he goes home, he takes care of his boy, he plays his video games, he reads a little bit, and then he comes back and does the same. His future will be fine”

LeBron on when he understood he might play with Bronny in the future “I think Bronny was either in the 7th or 8th grade, and it was my 15th year in the NBA. I felt incredible,” LeBron recalled. “I came out of that season, I felt so damn good. And I think somebody caught me like, โ€˜Do you think itโ€™s a possibility that you may stick around and play with one of your kids?โ€™ I was like, โ€˜Man, the way I feel right now, there is a possibility.โ€™”
