“He didn’t say very much anymore”: ‘Duck Dynasty’ Korie mourns Phil Robertson’s final days

The Duck Dynasty family is grieving the loss of its beloved patriarch, Phil Robertson, who passed away at the age of 79 following a rapid decline in health.

Korie Robertson, wife of Phil’s son Willie, opened up just days before his death. She revealed to The Post that the iconic outdoorsman and reality star had been quietly battling multiple health conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease.

“It’s been so hard to watch,” Korie said. “But he’s so loved, and all the family is just coming around him and taking really good care of him.”

In his final days, Phil reportedly spoke very little. But one special moment still stood out.

“He’s not saying very much anymore,” Korie shared. “But he looked up and said something like, ‘full steam ahead.’ It was so sweet.”

A Quiet Goodbye — and a Lasting Legacy

Phil’s death was confirmed Sunday night in a heartfelt family statement posted to Instagram.

“We celebrate today that our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord,” the family wrote. “We are grateful for his life on earth and will continue the legacy of love for God and love for others until we see him again.”

The Robertsons also announced plans for a public memorial at a later date, noting that they are currently holding a private service. Fans around the country have already begun sharing memories, tributes, and prayers online.

From Duck Calls to Prime Time

Phil Robertson first rose to national fame as the founder of Duck Commander. And later, as the central figure of Duck Dynasty, A&E’s hit reality series that ran for 11 seasons from 2012 to 2017.

Phil’s health prevented him from joining the cast of the show’s revival. Duck Dynasty: The Revival premiered on June 1 and continues to spotlight the family’s guiding values of faith, family, and ducks.

The revival centers on Willie, Korie, and their six children and eight grandchildren. Phil’s wife, Kay Robertson, 77, appeared in several early episodes but has reportedly faced her own recent health struggles.

“She’s not been able to be on anymore,” Korie said. “So we’re just thankful that Kay got to be on some of the earlier episodes, and we’re going to really cherish those.”

Despite his absence from the screen, Phil’s presence still looms large over every episode. From family prayers to stories that echo his signature values, his influence remains unmistakable.

A Family Full of Love

Phil is survived by Kay and their four adult sons: Willie, Jase, Jep, and Alan. He also has a daughter, Phyllis, whom he discovered later in life after an affair in the 1970s. It was a revelation that the family ultimately embraced with grace and openness.

As the Robertson family continues filming their next chapter without its founder, they carry forward the love, lessons, and legacy Phil left behind.

“Thank you for the love and prayers,” the family said. “So many lives have been impacted by his bold faith and desire to tell the Good News.”
